ContractIR™, the On-Line Store for Stockton Infrared Thermographic Services, Inc. is pleased to announce that the store now offers infrared windows as well as cameras, equipment, software and training. ContractIR™ was created by Greg Stockton, company founder and President of SITS. Inspired by the company’s focus of becoming a total resource for infrared customers, infrared thermographers and infrared contractors, ContractIR™ offers infrared equipment and services at discounted prices. The store now offers infrared windows as an additional resource for infrared contractors and company in-house thermographers. An infrared window allows a thermal imager/ir camera a direct line of site to inspect electrical cabinets and other systems without having to open the enclosure to the environment. These windows allow thermographers to inspect electrical equipment without exposing themselves to ‘live electrical components” and provides compliance with the recommendations of NFPA 70e. NFPA 70e is the National Fire Protection Association’s comprehensive standard that establishes best electrical safety practices standards on how to protect electrical contractors from electric arc flash and arc blast exposure and resulting potential injury and death. ContractIRs’ featured supplier of infrared windows in IRISS, Inc. – Infrared Inspections Support Solutions. IRISS offers the industry’s first and only “Industrial-Grade” IR Window. IRISS was founded by Martin Robinson, a level III thermographer who understood first-hand how valuable infrared windows are in speeding inspections and ensuring the safety of thermographers and electrical contractors. Over time, Martin and his team recognized that traditional crystal windows were incompatible with the industrial and building maintenance environments due to their inherent fragility and transmission rate instability. In an effort to “evolve” infrared window technology into one better suited to industrial environments, IRISS designed a rugged and stable IR window which improves Thermographer safety while ensuring accurate, stable transmissivity. “Infrared windows are an invaluable resource for electrical infrared thermographers, especially in terms of safety and time management,” states Greg Stockton, owner and creator of ContractIR, “We are pleased to make them available to our network of thermographers.” Closed panel inspections will allow Thermographers complete their tasks accurately in roughly 25% to 30% of the time it may have taken them previously, and with one-half to one-third the man-power. This new-found ease and speed of inspections makes it possible for Thermographers to monitor critical equipment more frequently, thereby increasing facility up-time and controlling the risk of catastrophic failure. The reduction in time and man-power alone will usually “pay for” the windows in 1.5 to 2 inspection cycles. Use of IR windows eliminate 99.9% of arc flash triggers during thermographic inspections of live electrical equipment. IRISS infrared windows allow for periodic inspections while cabinet doors are kept closed. Non-intrusive “closed panel inspections” maintain a constant state inside the cabinet and thereby mitigate the risk of a Thermographer triggering a phase-to-phase or phase-to-ground fault during inspection. “We are pleased to offer our products to Stockton’s network of thermographers and look forward to the partnership,” states Martin Robinson of IRISS, Inc.
